FeKK Ljubljana Short Film Festival
19—24.08.2024
There’s a certain charm exhuming from film festivals helmed by small teams. You can almost smell the love for the art form from miles away; cinephilia is truly at the core of why these people are running from A to B on a daily basis to ensure the audience gets the best viewing experience.
This is exactly the case with the FeKK Ljubljana Short Film Festival, which may be smaller in terms of budget and team size, compared to other European short film festivals, but probably this is what makes it much more engaging. Cosy indoor venues (some of them at the Slovenian Cinematheque, which is really worth a visit on its own) are contrasted with outdoor screenings (if the weather allows for it).
The true real selling point for FeKK Ljubljana Short Film Festival is their bold programming choices—not only in several greatly curated retrospective programmes, but also in the Baltic and Slovenian competitions that highlight the best of the region. To put proof to the test: last year’s Grand Prix winner—David Paige’s Harnessing—is a real gem of a film that (undeservingly) hardly screened anywhere else but in Ljubljana.
Don’t miss out on this cute festival if you have the chance to visit; hardcore cinephiles will absolutely love it.
