Lviv International Short Film Festival Wiz-Art

Lviv, Ukraine

Introduction

Lviv International Short Film Festival Wiz-Art is an annual film festival celebrating the art of short film in Lviv, Ukraine — usually at the end of July. It was initiated in 2008 by art formation Wiz-Art whose mission it is to develop the Ukrainian film industry. Every year, the festival team choses a socially relevant theme that is reflected in the visual design of the event. LISFF Wiz-Art is a powerful cultural and educational platform that unites Ukrainian and foreign filmmakers and gives the local audience the opportunity to explore great cinema from all over the world in the presence of professionals of the field.

The program consists of an international and national competition, as well as non-competitive focus programs and curated screenings. Short films from all over the world can participate in the international competition. Selected films in each category are eligible for several awards, of which the Grand Prix of LISFF Wiz-Art is top tier — it is given in both the international and national competition. The Grand Prix has notably been awarded to ‘The Day in Life’ by Hong Kong filmmaker Joon Kwokin 2010 and ‘Fungus’ by the Swedish Charlotte Miller in 2012.
