Janaina Wagner

Janaina Wagner (1989) develops her research in video, drawing, photography and installations. Her work aims to present a critical understanding of the ways in which humans impose systems of order and control upon their surroundings. Through the appropriation of history as presented through various forms of media, Wagner considers how notions of progress and legacy are articulated through a constellation of tales, facts, images, and memories. Currently a Ph.D. student at Le Fresnoy-Studio National des Arts Contemporains in France, Janaina has participated in several renowned residencies across the globe. Selected by Berlinale Doc Station 2023, Janaina Wagner is currently developing her first feature film, the experimental documentary A Mala da Noite.
