Friss Hús Budapest International Short Film Festival is Hungary’s only Oscar-qualifying festival. Friss Hús is a showcase for the newest and most exciting Hungarian and international short films, attracting sold-out screenings and significant professional and media attention. The festival’s audience grows year by year, with creative Hungarian short films drawing an increasingly wide audience.

Friss Hús is not only a captivating cinema experience but also one of the most important meeting points for the Hungarian film industry. The program includes professional forums, Hungary’s only short film pitching forum, workshops, and masterclasses for industry professionals, students, and enthusiasts alike.

In the international competition programme, the jury awards the Best International Short award and special mentions, while the audience can vote for their favorite international short. The 2018 festival saw the debut of LGBTQ+ and horror-themed short film selections, and in 2024, a special Weirdcore section was added to the program. Screenings are exclusively for those over 18, except for the Friss Hús Kids programmes aimed at children.
